Wuputah LLC: Ruby on Rails Development & Consulting in Boston

Our Philosophy

We strive to be a client-focused enterprise. Our number one goal is what all business should strive for: client satisfaction. We enjoy working with clients that are engaged in the process of creating great software.

In order to fulfill that goal, we use a process we have refined from our most successful projects. Most importantly, we start by assigning you a dedicated architect that will lead your project from start to finish. This person will be your point of contact and manage all aspects of your project.

If you’ve come to us with a large project, we will define your project into measurable phases lasting between 2 and 4 weeks. At the beginning of each phase, we will define all requirements in detail so that it can be accurately estimated. After each phase, we meet with you to discuss the results of the phase and plan the next one. This approach is derived from the industry-proven Scrum development process.

Our Company

Wuputah, LLC was founded in January 2008 by three professionals looking to change their everyday lives. Our combined experience with Rails, web development, database systems, and business acumen gave us a unique position to set out on our own.

Partnerships

We are proudly partnered with Norbauer Inc, another Boston-based consulting firm. This partnership has allowed our respective firms the unique opportunity to serve clients beyond the abilities of one firm alone. As a result, many of our projects are completed for or in collaboration with Norbauer.

He is responsible for running the day-to-day operations in addition to consulting on specialized matters. Prior to founding Wuputah, he was the CTO of a startup for 5 years, leading all technical aspects of a company as it grew from 3 to 20 employees. He championed the move from PHP to Ruby on Rails in December 2004 which led to much of its technical success. JD served as lead systems administrator as well as lead engineer on countless projects.

Additionally, he has contributed to a number of open source projects and is skilled with MySQL and Linux. In his spare time, Tom teaches himself to play the guitar and is working on an iPhone application.

Sam Sayer

Sam is an ex-J2EE developer who happily switched over to full-time Rails development long ago, picking up Rails shortly after it went 1.0. Prior to Wuputah, he developed and managed Rails projects of all sizes, from small internal applications to large public facing Rails deployments.

What’s a Wuputah?

Wuputah is a legendary, forgotten word that contains great power (but only when pronounced correctly). JD discovered it and first used it as his personal alias and domain. When it came time to start a company, the word was called upon again. What more can a word ask for?
